The Season of Lent
The Season of Lent lasts from Ash Wednesday to the days of Holy Week and into the Feast of Easter. In between, we are engaged in a faith journey that finds focus in reflection, repentance, and re-formation. This is a season, when you are invited to examine your life and make changes that will draw you closer to God, all within the context of prayer.
Ash Wednesday
The Imposition of Ashes and the Holy Eucharist are celebrated on Ash Wednesday. Check the calendar for service times. Some of our members have been involved in Ashes-to-Go, a contemporary effort to carry the message of repentance and new life out of the church and into the community.
Lenten Meditations (Episcopal Relief & Development).
These booklets of daily reflections for the season of Lent are set in the context of international service. Free Lenten Meditations booklets are available at church. Find out more about Episcopal Relief & Development (ERD).

Wednesday in Holy Week ~ Tenebrae "Service of Shadows"
The name Tenebrae (the Latin word for "darkness" or "shadows") has for centuries been applied to the ancient monastic night and early morning services (Matins and Lauds) of the last three days of Holy Week, which in medieval times came to be celebrated on the preceding evening. Through Scripture reading and silence and the gradual extinguishing of candles and other lights in the church, we enter the intensity of the Liturgy of this Holy Week.
